This place is SMALL! But Le Moulin is HUGE! And not just huge, but insanely gorgeous! It's run by a couple, Martin and Gail along with a friend of theirs, Ian (whom we've yet to meet). It's a Buddhist influenced meditation retreat fashioned from an old mill and zen monastery. The old mill house is amazing in itself. A three story, spiral staircase home with a 'canal' of sorts running right under the middle of it.
Above are pictures of the Moulin grounds including a pond, bamboo garden, river, meditation house, huge kitchen in the mill house, statues and gardens, along with pictures of us around Cubjac on our first run there.
We are suited in our own 'luxury suite' complete with our own w.c., two bedrooms, three single beds, a shower, AND a small kitchenette! Can you say spoiled or what?!?!
So far we have been doing some nice 'man labor' around the yards. We landscaped by Martin and Gails house by laying gravel all over their yard. Though it wasn't too tactical to do, it certainly was tiring for our poor backs to be bent over all day shoveling and moving around rocks. We finished it in record time however and moved onto our next job which involved seeding their grass area with grass seed. It's a bit sparse in quite a few areas. Again-a seemingly simple task-until you discover that the ground is a thick clay and instead of loosening up soil with just a rake, you are picking like a minor to loosen the clay just to lay the seeds...Let's just say- we have the blisters and the backs to show we are slowly becoming men. Chantel even has the hair on her legs to prove it!! HAHA
we've been faced with a bit of rain this past week so the colors, the land and buildings and sky seem a little dull. Really though, everything is quite brilliant and so beautiful!
Just today we had some sun and were able to take a stroll down to the local market with a fellow workawayer, Paul who is from Ireland. There were about 10 shops all spaced apart, confetti on the ground for god knows what, and a small mixture of people walking about.
Tomorrow we plan to go into Perigeuex with our workaway friends and see what their market has to offer along with the town itself. We're both excited.
Our first workaway experience has been so much more than we could have ever anticipated!!! We are loving it and loving life.
Until next time...
I dare you to take a swim in that pool!

ReplyDeleteWhat part of France is Cubjac and Perigeuex in? I'm guessing from the town names that you're somewhere in the Langue D'Oc. Am I right? Lovely photos and thanks for the post! Hugs.
